What Is Native American Heritage Month?

In 1990, November was designated Native American Heritage Month to celebrate and recognize the achievements of the over 9 million Native Americans and Native Alaskans living in the United States. There are 575 federally recognized tribes, each with their own culture and traditions. This month makes it possible for them to celebrate their heritage.
