Introduction to Library Streaming Video Licensing

The Library provides access to streaming videos, including documentaries, feature films, and instructional media. The streaming media collection includes licensed content (instant access), and on-demand content (available to license upon request). All licensed videos can be used both in the classroom and in online courses.

The library does not offer access to Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus, or any similar streaming services. We'd love to, but we can't! Each of these services (and others like them) are limited to individual/household use. Some video content (certain films and TV shows) is only available to access through one of these consumer-oriented services, and thus, may be out of reach for libraries to license.

Instead, we work with vendors that are geared for the institutional market - Alexander Street Press, Kanopy, and Swank, primarily.
We strive to support faculty with streaming video licensing as much as we can, so please ask if there's something that you find integral to a course you're teaching!
