Birthday Bash: Book Plate Contest

Taylor Memorial Library at Centenary University is celebrating its 70th birthday this year. Enjoy a look into our past and where we wish to go!

Book Plate Announcement

In preparation for the opening of the new library, a book plate contest was organized to inspire students to create an original book plate for the newly built Taylor Memorial Library. The contest was announced in the student newspaper, Spilled Ink, on March 17, 1954.

An Ex Libris, derived from ex-librīs (Latin for 'from the books or library'), also known as a bookplate, is a printed or decorative label pasted into a book, often on the front endpaper, to indicate ownership. Simple typographical bookplates are sometimes referred to as "book labels."
